If you walked down a cobblestone laneway into this neon-lit hallway, you probably wouldn't expect to find a trendy and modern Melbourne restaurant.

Hidden in the end of this inconspicuous, industrial tunnel is one of Melbourne's trendiest pan-Asian restaurants. Founded in 2013 by the renowned Melbournian chef Michael Lambie, Lucy Liu has grown to become one of Melbourne's most popular and trendiest restaurants. The menu features dishes from all over Asian from Japan to Vietnam and is very much inspired by the street foods of the continent. The flavours are bold.

Even the architecture matches the food. It is modern with an Asian element and red lights to bathe the interior with warmth. The floor is polished concrete and support columns and tables are covered with many contemporary right angles with bamboo scaffold inspired interior decoration along the walls. Diners have a mix of seating options. The tables include larger ones with lazy Susans and a private dining room or along the bar with a good view into the open kitchen. Just remember to bring your camera to get photos for the 'Gram!
