
Victoria Police Museum
Hidden away in the World Trade Centre is a fascinating museum where you can journey through the history of crime in Melbourne and Victoria.
Victoria Police developed their own crime museum as early as 1902 which was not open to public. For about half a century the collection moved across Melbourne as the original museum closed in 1922 and it was not until the mid-1950s when the collection was made available to the public to view. Its current location in World Trade Centre was opened in 2007. Now it is a place showcasing the history of crime and policing in Victoria.
The collection includes artefacts dating from the mid-1800s. The museum archive contains a large collection of photographs that document a wide range of subjects across the history of the Victoria Police. Moreover, the museum have a collection of uniforms, equipment and examples of official documents and correspondence used by police. They also have technology used by Victorian police includes firearms, bomb disposal robot and modes of transport. One of the most interesting objects on display in this museum is the car used in the Russell St bombing and a vampire slaying kit which was seized by police during a drugs raid on house in 2004, kits such as these are said to have been popular novelty items around the late 19th century.
In addition, they sell diversiform of merchandise relating to the Victoria police in gift shop. The entry fee is a gold coin donation in coin box and all money raised will be used for the preservation of the iconic collection.
Opening hours: 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday and closed on the weekend and public holidays.

Location: The Police Museum is on the Mezzanine Level of the World Trade Centre, 637 Flinders St, Docklands, 3008. Entrance to the World Trade Centre is via Siddeley St.
Public transport: you can catch the free City Circle Tram or numbers 70 or 75 to stop D6 Flinders St West or catch the 12, 96 or 109 trams to stop 124 Batman Park. The closest train station is Southern Cross Station. The Museum is a short 10-minute walk from Southern Cross Station.
